"Bullets Over Broadway is Woody Allen at his best -- a gem of a Broadway fable with a crafty premise, a raft of brilliant actors at the top of their form and a bouncy, just-for-pleasure attitude.” ~ San Francisco Chronicle

Bullets Over Broadway
Woody Allen, US, 1994; 98m
This raucous tale of life in the theater is populated with gangsters, showgirls, and incredibly colorful showbiz personalities. John Cusack is the struggling playwright David Shayne, whose dream of Broadway success collides with his mobster financier’s hopes for his ditzy girlfriend Olive (Jennifer Tilly), whom Shayne is forced to install in a leading part. Meanwhile, he copes with grand dame Helen Sinclair’s (Dianne Wiest) machinations for a larger part and the interference of Cheech (Chazz Palminteri), Olive’s hitman bodyguard just beginning to tap into a gift for writing.
