Young Friends of Film

Young Friends of Film (YFF) is a membership program for 21-40 year-old film buffs, who have not had the opportunity to view classic films as they were meant to be seen-on the big screen. In addition to all the benefits of regular Film Society membership, YFF members receive six special screenings per year with noteworthy guest speakers followed by great parties (see schedule below). Additional YFF benefits include one pair of complimentary tickets per month to select Walter Reade Theater series and invitations to preview screenings of new films before they are released in theaters.

Kicking and Screaming
Noah Baumbach, U.S., 1995; 96m
Thursday, December 8: 7:30 pm
Ticket price: $25

Well before his hit The Squid and the Whale, Baumbach debuted at the New York Film Festival with this, his very first film. This time, his all-too-real characters are grappling with their post-college lives, with some of them coping much better than others. The wonderful comedic cast includes Parker Posey, Josh Hamilton, Eric Stoltz, Chris Eigeman, Olivia d’Abo, and Elliott Gould.

The screening will be introduced by director Noah Baumbach, and Baumbach will be joined by Eric Stoltz and Chris Eigeman after the screening for a Q&A.

As always, an open-bar, catered reception will follow the screening. There will also be a free raffle drawing for The Squid and the Whale screenplays, written by Baumbach, with a foreword by fellow director Wes Anderson.
