Young Friends of Film Screens: King of New York

Thursday, July 12, 7:30pm

"This film is the real thing - a dense, pumped-up, sexy, funny, beautiful poem on life in New York City, 1990" - Details

Director Abel Ferrara and King of New York actor and co-writer of Abel Ferrara’s following film Bad Lieutenant, Paul Calderon, will be present for a Q&A. Violent and brash, the film was a controversial pick for the 1990 New York Film Festival.

General Admission: $25, includes screening, and an open-bar, catered reception. YFF members: one complimentary ticket.

After being released from Sing-Sing, narcotics king Frank White reunites with his gang and decides to do good by raising money for a dying South Bronx hospital. The problem is that no other gang wants to give him funding or respect and the cops don’t trust his newfound generosity. An all-out war ensues. Among a stellar cast, Christopher Walken and Laurence Fishburne provide some of their most memorable performances.
